Local Youth Forging Their Own Path With Summer Company

[PETERBOROUGH, ON]:  The Business Advisory Centre, a division of Peterborough Economic Development, is pleased to announce the creation of 12 new youth businesses in the Peterborough region through the 2015 Summer Company Program:

“Summer Company is an excellent learning opportunity,” stated Lorne Kelsey, Director of Investment Expansion for Peterborough Economic Development, “This program connects student entrepreneurs with funding, training and mentorship that help them on their path to success.”

A launch event was held today at the Staples store located on Park Street in Peterborough, where students were able to showcase their businesses to customers. This was one of 20 locations in 14 different communities in Ontario that held simultaneous events today.

Summer Company is a youth program offered by the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Trade & Employment. The program provides students aged 15 to 29 with the opportunity to open and operate their own business over the summer. The Business Advisory Centre has been the proud program provider for the City and County of Peterborough for over a decade.
