This evening, Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre announced the seven grant recipients that will be connected with funding to grow their businesses. A total of $26,000 in competitive grant dollars was awarded to the following business owners who participated in the most recent intake of the entrepreneurship program (full list of grant recipients below).

Starter Company Plus, a Government of Ontario funded program, which launched earlier this year, supports entrepreneurs as they start a business or grow an existing venture that has been operating for five years or less. The program guides small business owners through a robust series of workshops to support in the creation of a formalized business plan, culminating in the chance to pitch for up to $5,000 in funding.

“2017 has been an amazing year for entrepreneurship in Peterborough & the Kawarthas, and support for businesses through Starter Company Plus is a key part of that.” stated Suzanne McCrimmon, Director of Business Development with Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development. “We have seen a diverse range of businesses supported through all three intakes of this program from manufacturers to service providers to retailers, each benefiting from the tools and tangible takeaways offered through this program.”

In 2017, Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre has connected local businesses with over $75,000 in funding through Starter Company Plus. The next intake for this program will open in February 2018.
