The group pedaling concept at the heart of PedalBoro is part of a growing cycle tourism phenomenon that’s been sweeping the nation. Peterborough is now the fifth Canadian city to host this new form of cycle tourism in Canada.

With a little imagination, hard work, and a lot of community support, Peterborough locals Hillary Flood and Pete Rellinger have launched PedalBoro, their 15-passenger party bike business.

PedalBoro held its official unveiling Tuesday (July 16) with a pedal powered tour unlike any other for local media and community partners. The PedalBoro group cycle experience takes passengers on a tour of downtown Peterborough’s vibrant food and beverage scene. This new group pedaling concept creates an eco-friendly transportation alternative for exploring Peterborough’s historic downtown.

“This is a perfect example of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and small-business tourism crossover that we are so lucky to have in Peterborough & the Kawarthas,” says Madeleine Hurrell, Entrepreneurship Officer with Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre.

PedalBoro received ongoing mentorship and guidance through the Business Advisory Centre, grant funding through the Starter Company Plus program and the Bear’s Lair Entrepreneurial Competition. Starter Company Plus is a program offered through the Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre with funding from the Government of Ontario. This program is designed to provide business training for entrepreneurs (from aspiring to experienced), aged 18 and over in the City and County of Peterborough who are launching a business or expanding an existing business (that has been operating for five years or less).
