Marshall Eckler’s love of food and healthy alternatives led him to the creation of his company “Chef Marshall”. Chef Marshall manufactures and sells artisanal, naturally-fermented foods and beverages – including probiotic beverages in unique flavours including beet, jalapeno & lime and others.
Like others in the local food and agriculture sector, Marshall finds Peterborough & the Kawarthas an ideal place to run his business. With a market rich in local foodies hungry for healthy alternatives, Marshall is generating interest in his product – particularly at the Peterborough Farmers’ Market.
Through the B.L.A.S.T. Pilot Program, Marshall found the support he needed to get his business off the ground. He learned a lot through the course material about how to develop his business plan and was supported by Business Advisory Centre staff throughout the process. With the microgrant, Marshall hopes to expand his business and hire staff, in order to grow and streamline his production and operations. Marshall hopes to continue his passion for research and development of new products while setting up expanded retail outlets.
Marshall is working on being successful on his own terms. This includes having fun while uncovering hidden niches in the health food market.
We asked Marshall, “What advice would you offer aspiring entrepreneurs.” His answer? Three words: “Follow your dreams.”
