Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development (PKED) is the lead regional economic development agency contracted to conduct core economic development activities on behalf of the City or Peterborough and Peterborough County. PKED also operates Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism – the region’s official Destination Marketing Organization and Visitor Centre.

PKED’s Business Attraction, Retention & Expansion Team
This department oversees the attraction of new business and investment, supports the retention and expansion of existing businesses, and works with local, regional, provincial, and national industry partners to identify opportunities to grow the local economy.
The Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism Team, including the Regional Visitor Centre
Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism (PKT) is the official Destination Marketing Organization for the region, and operates the regional Visitor Centre located in Downtown Peterborough. PKT also oversees the attraction of meetings, conferences, and sports tourism events as well as assists tourism businesses with diversifying their product offerings, and supports new and innovative tourism start ups.
PKED’s Marketing & Communications Team
The marketing & communications team leads the region’s investment attraction and destination marketing efforts, as well as supports the promotion and communication of PKED’s programs and initiatives.
