$29,000 in Funding Announced for Local Entrepreneurs

This afternoon, Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre announced $29, 000 in funding to support local entrepreneurs with their business growth.

This announcement of funding is for participants in the fifth intake of Starter Company Plus, a Government of Ontario funded program. This program supports entrepreneurs in starting, growing or acquiring a business, offering a robust series of workshops to support the creation of a formalized business plan, culminating in the chance to pitch for competitive grant dollars. This intake’s grant recipients are:

Rodney Fuentes – Goldenrod Productions

A video production company specializing in nature and outdoor storytelling.  Goldenrod Productions creates inspiring videos to help increase awareness towards the delicate state of our natural world, connection to nature, and outdoor adventures.

Tyler Steeves – That Dam Tea

That Dam Tea is a beverage company producing thirst quenching beverages with natural, genuine ingredients to fulfill a purpose in their customer’s lives.

Jacob Quinlan – Jacob Quinlan Books

Jacob Quinlan Books is a rare bookseller specializing in Fine and Private Press for both individuals and institutions.

Lesley Pocklington – Swell Made Co.

A Canadian lifestyle brand that designs simple, yet bold paper goods, home décor and gifts for swell people. Following the mantra “keep it simple, but significant” all goods are thoughtfully-designed and packaged by Swell Made Co. and produced by Canadian small businesses.

David Sharpe & Michael Seaboyer – Belmont Custom Cabinetry

Belmont Custom Cabinetry is a kitchen cabinet manufacturing company based in Havelock.  This business has been around great design, trust, integrity and love of the craft.

Lyle Saunders – Peterborough Disability Tax Services

Peterborough Disability Tax Services help individuals and families with disabilities and special needs navigate through the tax process, and adjust these approved credits to maximize their taxable benefits.  They also provide a yearly Income Tax service.

Jim Adriaensen – James & Co. Structural Engineering Inc.

James + Co. provides structural engineering services to architects, designers, contractors and solar companies in the Peterborough area.  Adriaensen is a licensed, professional structural engineer with over 15 years of experience working on small to medium sized residential, commercial, institutional and industrial projects.

“We are pleased to see another intake with diverse business offering – from creative industries to the skilled trades to service providers.” explains Madeleine Hurrell, the Economic Development Officer who oversees the Starter Company Plus program. “This program is supporting entrepreneurs as they transform hobbies into profitable business opportunities, as well as providing assistance for small business owners to expand.”
