Business Advisory Centre Launches Online Learning Platform for Entrepreneurs

[PETERBOROUGH, ON]: The Peterborough & the Kawarthas Business Advisory Centre (BAC) has launched a new online learning platform for local entrepreneurs to access BAC programming anytime, anywhere.

The BAC, one of 57 Small Business Enterprise Centres in the Province, funded by the Government of Ontario, is operated by Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development (PKED), which provides complimentary business support services for clients in the City and County of Peterborough.

The BAC has traditionally offered a series of in-person business workshops, which have not been available lately due to COVID-19. The BAC’s flagship course for local entrepreneurs and startups, the New Venture session, is the first of a series of new online courses that will be added to the platform. Additionally, the popular Small Business Toolkit, an all-in-one resource that entrepreneurs and new business owners can use to inform their decisions early on in their venture has also been revamped.

“I’m very excited to launch the New Venture E-Learning Series as well as our Small Business Toolkit for new and aspiring entrepreneurs in Peterborough & the Kawarthas through the Business Advisory Centre,” said Madeleine Hurrell, Entrepreneurship Officer at PKED.

“For many new startups, the “what now?” scenario is all too common and can be very daunting. ‘Is there a market for my idea?’, ‘How do I know who my competitors are?’, ‘Do I even need to register this business?’ are just some of the common questions the BAC helps entrepreneurs navigate. The New Venture E-Learning Series will help you navigate those questions and provide you with information so you set out with a solid foundation to launch your idea, all from the comfort of your home and at your own pace.” added Hurrell.

“Making our flagship programming available to entrepreneurs in the region at any hour of the day and anywhere you can get an internet connection was something we knew we needed to offer once this pandemic hit,” Suzanne McCrimmon, Director of Business Development at PKED said.

“We saw how businesses and startups were pivoting and we made sure we pivoted and invested into e-learning. This online learning platform will provide our programming to more new businesses, and hopefully lead to more incredible startups launching here in our region,” McCrimmon added.
