Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism is getting ready for another busy season with extended summer hours, digital visitor services, and opportunities for our region’s visitors to get more information on-the-go.
This weekend, the Peterborough & the Kawarthas Visitor Centre located in Downtown Peterborough at 270 George Street North (Suite 101) will begin offering extended hours – 7 days a week from 9am – 5pm from Victoria Day weekend until Thanksgiving.
The Visitor Centre provides a wide selection of free information including travel guides, brochures, roadmaps and trail guides. From the Downtown Visitor Centre, trained travel counsellors are available to assist visitors to the area in person, over-the-phone, and utilizing a new online “Live Chat” function on thekawarthas.ca. The new “Live Chat” function connects visitors to the website with the support they need to plan their vacation and to navigate the region’s experiences while they are here.
Additionally, Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism is expanding their Mobile Visitor Services program this summer to include over 30 locations throughout the City & County of Peterborough. Locations include: Muddy’s Pit BBQ, Norwood Foodland, Lockside Trading Co., and the Riverview Park & Zoo.
“The way people are planning their vacations and consuming information is changing, and we are adapting along with industry trends.” notes Tracie Bertrand, Director of Tourism & Communications with Peterborough & the Kawarthas Tourism, a division of Peterborough & the Kawarthas Economic Development. “We know that our visitors are consuming much of the information that they need while on-the-go. Our team strives to offer the same level of exceptional customer service whether our visitors are interacting with us digitally, at our mobile locations, or from the Downtown Visitor Centre.”
Tourism has a significant impact on the region’s economy annually. Over 2.8 million visitors come to the region each year, and spend in excess of $260M in the local community.
