Business and Entrepreneurs

Peterborough Through Patrick Stephen’s Lens

Patrick Stephen, is a young entrepreneur from Millbrook with a keen eye for capturing dynamic photos and videos of architecture and commercial spaces. With camera in-hand and the support of the Summer Company program and an amazing local mentor (Neil Morton from PtboCanada.com), Patrick started Stephen Digital in the summer of 2014, and has been going strong ever since.

We asked Patrick what made Peterborough a great place for him as a young entrepreneur, he credits Peterborough’s supportive business community, saying “Peterborough has been a great place for any entrepreneur because of the great support for new businesses. Not only programs from [Peterborough Economic Development] and others like it, but the community as well has an interest in supporting entrepreneurs and new ideas. I think it is any young person’s dream to start a business, but they just don’t know how. I am still recalling helpful tips that I learned in one of the Summer Company Program seminars. It was perfect for getting all the information and support needed.”

Recently, Patrick won Atria’s Peterborough Historic YMCA Photo Contest which landed him on the front page of the Toronto Star’s Home & Condos section on October 31st.

Neil Morton, who mentored Patrick through our Summer Company program in 2014, said “It gives me great pleasure to see him succeed like he has. Patrick is yet another example of a young, talented, ambitious entrepreneur succeeding in Peterborough and the Kawarthas with the support of the startup community here — and amazing organizations like PED.”

This week, Patrick released an amazing video that explores the sights, faces and feel of the City of Peterborough. It beautifully showcases the uniqueness of the City’s streetscapes, buildings and spaces. Check out the video below:
