City of Peterborough
Peterborough is nestled in the heart of Southern Ontario, just a short, scenic drive from both Ottawa and Toronto, two of Canada’s most bustling cities. Located just north of the Green Belt, you can get from door to door to Toronto in less than an hour.
A thriving City, Peterborough has all of the shops, services, and amenities that anyone could possibly need. Rich in arts, culture, and heritage, the community is renowned for producing musicians and artists – and also for attracting world-renowned artists to our many venues and festivals. We offer an incredibly inviting restaurant scene – known for its culturally diverse use of area meats, dairy, and produce. With an abundance of nationally recognized retail chains in the suburbs of the City, our downtown offers a multitude of theatres, shops, restaurants, pubs, and bars to choose from. No matter the atmosphere, you can find it here, in Peterborough.
The city is home to both Trent University and Fleming College. This student population helps to stimulate economic activity across the city with a focus in the downtown core. It also acts as the impetus for a host of funky stores, cafés and clubs.
Peterborough also boasts a brand new hospital and health centre, a vibrant network of neighbourhood schools, excellent recreational centres and playing fields, and an exceptionally strong sense of community.
All of this, amidst the cottage country splendor of the Kawarthas!
Our downtown is located right on the Trent-Severn Waterway and is surrounded by beautiful farmland and woodland with extensively developed walking and riding trails. For people who enjoy outdoor living, it is an urban/rural paradise.
