400 Expected New Peterborough Jobs

Can we talk Peterborough jobs?

With an $181,510 grant through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF), the Ontario government is supporting a new customer support centre coming to Peterborough. Nordia, a subsidiary of Bell Canada plans to investment approximately $5 million into infrastructure, hiring, training and operations.

Throughout the process of attracting and encouraging the choice of Peterborough, Peterborough Economic Development provided research and business support. We were involved with the creation of a site selection package based on required criteria, conducted a labour market analysis, and provided consultation throughout the EODF applications process. The support that Peterborough Economic Development provided was a contributing factor in the decision for Nordia to move into Peterborough.

This new company will bring a boost to the local economy providing not only jobs but income that can be spent throughout the Peterborough region on entertainment, retail, education, equipment and supplies. These jobs will be available for people from throughout the City of Peterborough and the County of Peterborough as well as surrounding areas. During the announcement, Nordia president John DiNardo indicated that this new business will inject about $14 million annually into Peterborough’s economy.
